About the Site

Hubble Bubble is powered by an unmodified Joomla! 1.5 and BubblePLY. We chose not to use a commenting solution, after all, that's what social bookmarking sites are good for.

Joomla! is the content management system powering the site. We believe in the power of open source, it's the wave of the future and it'll come crashing down on the corporates within a decade.

The development budget for the site went into the single digits. Double, if you include the cost of the copious amounts of weed we smoked while developing it.

Development of the Hubble Bubble portal took three days, from concept to execution. Three days without much sleep.

The studio featured an office chair stuck on the lowest level, a fake wood paneled workstation with a keyboard slide drawer that doesn't slide, and a computer that freezes up just to be spiteful.

The initial concept for the site was for it to be a community web video parody site. Our bubbles would be featured, and members would be able to create and edit their own bubbles within the site, setup channels and favourites, publish and share their creations, and possibly have their bubble included in an episode of Hubble Bubble. Profiles, personal blogs, and director's commentary on your bubbles, would also feature.

Now, I'm a coder. Honestly though, anything outside of good ol' 6510 and I'm just a hack. So rather than spend three months slaving away modifying Joomla!, I decided to setup this portal to serve episodes of Hubble Bubble. The grand HB community portal, however, will have to wait until some talented fans offer their services.
